#OccupyHarrisonburg and #S17 - a Week-Long Celebration!

Wow!  What a week!  We celebrated, protested, visualized, vocalized, were arrested, accused, empowered and inspired here at OHB for the year celebration of  #OWS #S17.

-In Harrisonburg, we held three days of movies, song and talkback with the musical stylings of Hburg protest songsters Doug Hendren and Steve B.I.K.O.

Steve sings “The Shock Doctrine” based on Naomi Klein’s book and film.

Doug sings “Real People Have Heart” based on Elizabeth Warren’s DNC speech.

-Dave and Paulette talked with WHSV about where we’ve been and where Occupy Harrisonburg and the greater Occupy is going.

-Paulette spoke with WMRA radio about the issues and Occupy’s role in re-envisioning.

-MEANWHILE our very own James Van Orden joined the OWS crowd in New York for protests and was promptly arrested.

#S17 #OccupyHarrisonburg’s JVO arrested approx 5:30PM – released approx 9:30. He’s shaken but fine – going back to Brooklyn right now. He was walking on the sidewalk, a cop told him to stand against the wall. He did. Another cop came along and arrested him for obstructing pedestrian traffic. Hearing in December. I saw this Tweet right around the time he was arrested and wondered if it was him. First arrest. (pm)
